We are planning a Christmas social event to get together with our CAMRA friends and visit some fantastic pubs for great beers and and ciders along with great company on Thursday 29th December.
This year, due to the uncertainties around the trains running, we have decided to keep it local and will be visiting the pubs in our Branch area. We will meet at 1pm at Real Crafty on Upper Dicconson Street, where the landlord, who is usually as tight as Rambos Headband, but having been visited by the ghost of Christmas past, is buying you your first pint of Real Ale or Real Cider. Just show staff at the pub your CAMRA Card and tell them your are there for the Twixmas outing.
We have our Real Ale trail maps as a great guide, but there are, of course, some excellent pubs not on the map. Between now and 27th December please let me know any of your favorites and I will put together an additional list.
The buses are running on the day and for those who require a ticket to travel a Manchester PlusOne DayRider ticket is available on the stagecoach app for £7.60 or Arriva day tickets £5.00 for 1 person, £8.50 for any 2 persons travelling together.
Don’t forget the 35th Wigan CAMRA Beer Festival will take place at Robin Park Sports Centre between Thursday 2nd and Saturday 4th March 2023 with set up beginning on Tuesday 28th February.
There are still lots of volunteer positions available during set up on 28th Feb and 1st March and also during the festival on 2nd to the 4th March including serving beer, admission or maybe help at the gin bar. It’s a great social event with free beer sampling and a free commemorative t-shirt for all volunteers. Training will be provided, so there’s no need to worry if you have never pulled a pint before or worked at the festival.
