[extract from minutes of Wigan CAMRA Branch meeting on 19th February 2020]
The extended opening hours at the Standish Unity Club continue to prove popular. On the other hand, real ale prices have increased by 10p a pint to £2.80 a pint which hasn’t proved quite as popular as the new opening hours.
I am pleased to report that Standish Unity Club was voted club of the year at the Annual General Meeting of Wigan CAMRA branch. The presentation of the award is planned for Friday 28 February 2020 at 19:00.
Sadly, the Sacred Heart Parish Centre in Wigan no longer sells real ale, the hand pump has been removed. I am told this was due to lack of demand.
Looking forward – a charity quiz night with a raffle and charity auction will be held at the Swinley Club, Wigan Lane on 28 February. This is in support of member Graeme Hodgson who will be running the London marathon to raise money for the Lymphoma Action charity. Graeme has taken this initiative to celebrate his wife being clear of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for 10 years and to raise awareness of this great charity.
