CLAY BROW NANO BREWERY
A new super-strength imperial stout is in the pipeline for Christmas.
Stuart will be very active during the forthcoming Wigan Beer Week. He has done a collaboration beer with KORE at Hindley for WBW and will only be available for a limited time EXCLUSIVELY at KORE. On Friday 20th he will be at the launch of a collaboration beer (Hophurst / John Bull Chophouse) at John Bull Chophouse (7pm). This is a 6.5% abv sour cherry milk stout. Another collaboration beer is being brewed in conjunction with the Firkin at Newton-le-Willows – a 4.8% New England IPA to be sold in both cask and keg form. Saturday 21st he will be hosting an open day at the brewery from 12pm until 6pm. There will be a bus running between Wigan and Hindley to facilitate this. Wednesday 25th will be a Festival Preview Night for CAMRA Members at Twisted Vine Ale House, Ashton-in-Makerfield. The Beer, Cider and Music Festival will then run until Sunday 29th Sep and the line-up will include 14+ cask beers, 6+ keg beers and 6 ciders.
MARTLAND MILL BREWERY
Martland Mill Brewery has now been sold with the official handover being 20 September. Rob Jolly is the new owner and has plans for taking the business to another level (more news on that when I get to speak to him direct). Paul has now ceased brewing although Luke who was the previous head brewer will be rejoining the business under the new owner.
Paul will continue to own the Tap ‘n’ Barrel and has plans to develop it further with more guest beers. Thanks go to Paul and Delia for their continued support of CAMRA.
The will be a pop-up bar and a meet the brewer event as part of Wigan Beer Week on Saturday 28th September at the Royal Oak in Wigan.
PROBLEM CHILD BREWERY
The new owners are allowing things to carry on very much as they were before. They are part owners of Young’s Beers,Wines and Spirits in Clitheroe. A new beer has been brewed for Wigan Beer Week – Sterling Archer, 4.2% abv. The brewery bar will be open for Wigan Beer Week, and a beer from the wood from Tarn Hows will be available plus a craft beer from Purity in addition to Prospect’s own beers.
TWISTED WHEEL BREW COMPANY
A BLO will be needed, but CAMRA won’t accept any nominations for BLO until the brewery is actually operating.
The beer for Wigan Beer Week is American Amber Beer. There will be on open day at the brewery on 20th September.
WILY FOX BREWERY
A meet the brewer event is being held at Sherrington’s as part of Wigan Beer Week. Central Lancs CAMRA are due to visit on 12th October.
