BRITANNIA INN : 13 Hall Green, Upholland, WN8 0PB. (01695)625781.
Situated at the top of Alma Hill in Upholland, the Britannia Inn is a real ‘olde worlde’ pub with comfortable modern furnishing. It has one long bar with a games / TV room behind it, and a cosy room at the far end. It has a very homely feel to it with welcoming staff.
Serves 1 regular beer: Sharps – Doom Bar. Serves 1 changing beer.

FIFTEENS @ THE FOX : 24 Roby Mill, Skelmersdale, WN8 0QF. (01695)628178.
The bar dates back to the early 1800’s and was licensed for two horses and twenty persons. Refurbished in November 2013 and re-branded as a Fifteens pub. ‘The Beast of Roby Mill’ a large, dog-like creature is said to roam nearby. The Fox has a very cosy, comfortable feel to it, with very attentive staff, just the place for a really nice meal and pint with family and friends.
Serves 4 changing beers.

Opened September 2016 on the outskirts of the town in an almost rural setting, this very attractive carvery style pub is located next door to a Superstore. It has a separate parent & child area and WC & nappy changing facilities; these WCs are also fully equipped for the less mobile customers. It has six quite interesting dining areas, from intimate 2-4 seat booths to a 10 – 12 seating long table. Huge car park.
Serves 4 regular beers: Jennings – Cumberland Ale, Marston’s – Pedigree, Thwaites – Wainwright, Wychwood – Hobgoblin. Serves 2 changing beers. 8 hand pumps with several changing beers from their range.

A spacious attractive pub, with beams, wood panelling, and exposed stonework and comfortable seating. It has five areas and is gradually undergoing refurbishment. There are ten tables with benches outside with a nearby small lake. They have an active footy team and a ‘winning’ Ladies Darts Team.

BT and Sky sports are available to watch in different areas of the pub. There is an outdoor seating and play area with climbing tower and slide, along with separate smoking area. Monday is darts and dominos night, Wednesday, bingo from 7 pm, Thursday, pool night. 1st Friday of each month is karaoke night from 8pm with Gary Solo. Every other Friday is DJ Buck from 8pm till late. Saturday evening, artist from 9pm. Dogs are welcome but must be controlled. Children are allowed till 8pm.

Old style pub split into two rooms, one of which is dedicated to food. The bar half of the pub has a large bar leading off to a flagged floor seating area.

TAWD VALE INN : Berry Street, Skelmersdale, WN8 8QZ. (01695)733294.
Open-plan boozer, retaining several drinking areas. Light-reflecting wallpaper in framed panels; unobtrusive music. There is a thriving golf club and various trophies, awards and even golf clubs can be seen. The shelves near the ceiling boast a selection of bottled beers (empties, in case you’re wondering). On a dark night, the pub’s neon lights (rather resembling a lasso in three colours) can be seen streets away. 1 real ale on at present.

WHITE LION : 10 Church Street, Upholland, WN8 0ND. (01695)363236.
Situated on a corner next to the local church, the White Lion is a pub with character. The pub is split into four rooms, on entry there is a small room to the right with access to the bar. As you pass the small room the pub opens up to a larger area on the left sporting a real fire and a TV. The bar is on the right in this open plan area. The rear of the pub is split into two, a pool room at the rear right and dining area on the left. According to legend, George Lyon, known as the ‘Upholland Highwayman’, was finally tracked down and arrested in the White Lion while he was enjoying a pint. Now sports a great new attractive garden and smoking area. Super live acts line ups on Saturday nights – keep your eye on their Facebook page.
