BALCARRES ARMS : 1 Copperas Lane, Haigh, WN2 1LB. (01942)833018.
A pleasant, attractive, open-plan pub with rough-cast walls and prints of still life and country scenes. The pub has an impressive brick fire place, but stand back and admire the bar, constructed from sets to match the cobbles around the drinking area outside. The sharp-eyed may spot photographs near the bar of Sumner’s brewery which stood outside. Back room with pool table and comfy seating. Beer garden/outside drinking area. Food served. A good place at which to rest and have a beer after a stroll through Haigh Plantations.

COLLIERS ARMS : 192 Wigan Road, New Springs, WN2 1DU. (01942)833318.
This is popular local pub. Dating from 1700 and known locally as ‘the stone’. Totally refurbished and reopened December 2016. It has very attractive stone flag ‘style’ flooring and a fascinating collection of seating, from cosy wall benches to stools. The internal walls have many interesting architectural features. A comfy pub to have a good chin-wag in. Bar snacks usually available. Some lovely walks along the canal and in Haigh Hall Country Park only minutes away. CROWN HOTEL : 106 Wigan Road, New Springs, New Springs, WN2 1DP.
Pub in The Good Beer Guide 2014. This recently refurbished freehouse has three hand pumps and normally serves a selection of Local beers. There are two real fires to welcome those who visit on winter evenings. A beer garden is located to the rear of the pub and there is a smoking area. There is also a pool table and dartboard. Cabaret entertainment takes place on Friday evenings and karaoke on Saturday. This is a community pub well worth a visit. May be closed on Monday & Wednesday in winter. LocAle accredited. Disabled WC facilities.

Pub regularly in The Good Beer Guide. One-room, open-plan cosy pub with a light and airy interior, comfortable seating and a good atmosphere. Original Boddington and Smoke Room windows feature. There are six handpumps with Tetley and Prospect beers as the regulars plus guests. Two TV screens show sport. Located on the edge of Borsdane Wood, a local nature reserve, it makes an ideal refreshment stop. Food is served lunchtimes and evenings, all day at the weekend. Over 18s only.

KIRKLESS HALL INN : Albion Drive, Canal Bank (Top Lock), New Springs, WN2 1JW.
Kirkless Hall Inn is on the bank of the canal and is popular in summer due to its location. Has a large lounge, bar and dining area, whilst outside there is a smoking area and large car-park. A welcome refreshment stop for homely grub and beer, especially if you have just completed the 200 foot ascent and 21 locks of the Wigan Flight of the Leeds-Liverpool canal by either foot, bike or barge. NOTE:- may be closed Mondays and later afternoon opening hours in winter.

TWO LEFT FEET BREWING TAP & BREWERY : School lane, Haigh, WN2 1PE. (01942)828469.
Set within the grounds of Haigh Woodland Park. Selection of keg beers, casks, wines and gins. Also serving barista style coffee and Belgium hot chocolate. Ground floor bar only presently with upstairs bar to follow in July 2017 with beer tapas and sharing dishes available, brewery to follow shortly thereafter. Off license held and range of bottled and canned beers for take out available soon. Permanent on Keg :- Estrella Damm, Budweiser Budvar, Adnams Mosaic, Erdinger Weissbeer, Birrificio Italiano – Tipopils, Left Hand Brewing Co – Milk Stout, plus three changing guest real ales on handpump and a real cider.

VICTORIA : 50 Haigh Road, Haigh, Aspull, WN2 1YA.
Pub in The Good Beer Guide several times. Traditional two-room local and All Gates Brewery’s first pub. The smart yet intimate lounge displays photographs depicting the history of Aspull and Haigh. Large-screen TVs cater for sports fans, although the one in the lounge is usually switched off. The pub is well located for Haigh Hall Country Park and is halfway between Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic football grounds. Guest beers come from All Gates and other breweries. There is a covered smoking area. Live singer usually last Sunday. 5 handpulls dispensing 4 beers and a real cider.
