‘The Local‘ in Hindley has just applied for a premises licence.
Update on progress at the Swan & Railway in Wigan from John Brearley. We finally have all the Network Rail consents in place that were holding us up and scaffolding should be up by the end of the week and we’re aiming for a mid to late July opening with a pretty high level of confidence. Be very happy to give you a sneak preview on site if you fancy and give you or the next branch meeting a fuller update. Pete Marsh is to have a meeting with John Brearley at the Swan & Railway.
Primrose Farm (Farmhouse Pubs, Greene King) is now open just off Smithy Brook Road in Goose Green. Mainly a restaurant pub (same chain as Lymewood Farm in Haydock) but serving Greene King IPA, Abbott Ale and Old Speckled Hen on handpull. No real cider.
Hare & Hounds in Pemberton was boarded up last Monday following the sudden departure of the licencees. The pub company advised Sandy that they are hoping to get new licencees and re-open the pub. It has not served real ale in recent years.
The Victoria in Aspull has been put up for sale by Allgates. There are also rumours that another Allgates pub is to be sold.
The Balmoral in Hindley is currently being worked on but it is not known if it Is to be re-opened as a pub or converted to alternative use.
Real Ale Revolution One has withdrawn its Camra discount.
The Robert Holland is offering several cask beers, mostly from Wily Fox, and including a dark beer.
Work is progressing on a new microbar on Beech Hill Lane.
